Because it lies off the main trekking circuits, reaching Rara requires a short flight to Talcha or Jumla followed by a multi-day trek, which keeps visitor numbers low and the surrounding wilderness pristine. The park is home to red panda, musk deer, and Himalayan black bear, and the walk around the lake's shoreline is one of the most peaceful trekking experiences in Nepal.
